And since I am a better reader and reviewer than I was in 2016, I’ve left my thoughts about the books and the Easter Eggs I found below. So I finally got my act together and binge-read the entire series. The book club I am currently a part of chose this book to read this month. ![]() ![]() It’s currently February 2021 and The Reader has come full circle for me. But during an epic and well-deserved spending spree on Book Outlet in November 2020, four years after The Reader was published, I finally got around to buying the rest of the series. I was aware that this book was part of a series and I vowed to buy the other books when they came out. (This was pretty standard for me at the time). I read it in a matter of days, gave it five stars on Goodreads, and never touched it again. Knowing I would likely enjoy The Reader as well, I picked it up on my next trip to the bookstore. ![]() Because of my wonderful high school librarian, I’d fallen in love with Victoria Aveyard’s Red Queen, Leigh Bardugo’s Shadow & Bone, and Sabaa Tahir’s An Ember in the Ashes. I’d been a member of the book club since the beginning of 10th grade and I had discovered some amazing new YA fantasy series there. The book was a YA fantasy called The Reader. She wanted to pass on the title of the newest book the school book club was reading. In October 2016, during my first semester of college, I got an email from my former high school librarian. ![]()
